Just returned from a trip overseas and wanted to report. Seems that things are actually better now than 5 years ago when I refused to fly anymore. In leaving Jacksonville there was a sign that said closed in front of the scanner. Nothing absolutely as far as scanners in Frankfurt or Kiev but when I landed in Houston on the return, there they were. I politely told the screener that I had a problem and I was quickly put through a pat down that actually felt like a nice massage :-) and I commented about that as well. The screener was very professional and refused to joke with me, of course I did not like it so much but my groin was never touched in any way shape or form. It really was not so bad and he started trying to tell me how the microwave machines were harmless but I corrected him and gave him my horror story about it and explained it was why I had a problem and I was not trying to make some sort of statement, only worried about my health and could not undergo any further damage. He did ask me if I had any overly sensitive areas and I responded my groin to which he gave me a snarl but that was about it. He did not try to argue with me or anything of the sort. I wish they would do away with the stupid things but I can say that this was somewhat reasonable. Cant say about any of the other airports and I can imagine there are plenty out there that are horrible. I am still a little weary of just jumping on a plane and flying for the heck of it but I can say things are getting better. Thought this would be a bit of encouragement not to give up fighting. Oh and BTW, they did have a hissy fit in Frankfurt over a pair of mini pliers that I keep in my computer bag but after the screener showed them to her stupidadvisor or is that supervisor, no I think I got it right the 1st time, she handed them back to me.
