Just saw this post and thought I should share it. I think its worth reading. URHOBO MUST BE CAREFUL!!! “URHOBO UNITED WAKE UP AND PREPARE FOR THE BATTLES AHEAD! Mr. President mandated Tompolo. Sen.Manager and his Kinsmen to mobilize against our guber candidate David Edewvie. Its in record dat d Urhobos gv Mr.President more votes than d entire Bayelsa state in d 2011 election. we must unite to ensure dat Mr.President does not win a single ward in our areas. The same Tompolo and his cohorts are acting like pirates in power hijacking and looting by changing names of those who already won their house of assembly primaries @ d PDP secretariat Abj. What a NONSENSE! Mr.President call Tompolo to order, to avoid another round of crisis in delta State. May wise counsel prevail!” – extracts from an SMS broadcast on the 15th Dec 2014 It is very heart rendering to read some of these inciting comments being peddled around social media and some online blogs by some mischief makers on behalf of the Urhobos in Delta State, the extract above is from an SMS been circulated by some elements claiming to be speaking for the Urhobos. Several of these messages have been flooding the media circle since after the PDP primaries and we the members of the Urhobo Youth Initiative Movement (UYIM) find this to be totally absurd, self serving and in fact cannot but equate it to a grand design by some paid group of persons whom by virtue of their selfish aims want to plunge the Urhobo nation into some hate related course with her neighbors. We have watched carefully and noticed that all of these unholy comments that is been circulated around have nothing of importance to the urhobo people but rather a self serving exercise by some individuals whom out of their bias over the just concluded PDP governorship primary elections wants to plunge every Urhobo son and daughter into some tribal conflict. We as members of Urhobo Youth Initiative Movement will not allow some few elements to use us as puns in their grand political design; we therefore warn every indigene of the Urhobo race to ignore these calls and totally resist any such plans by this group of persons. Firstly, we want to state categorically clear that we shall not because of this election have any conflict with either our Ijaw or Delta North brothers and sisters because these groups have supported the Urhobos tremendously when it was our turn to produce the governor of the state on two separate occasions. It is only fair and just that we the urhobos as a sign of good gesture support the course of our Delta north neighbors now that it has been bestowed on them to produce the governor. The unholy media attack on the person of High Chief Government Ekpemupolo AKA Tompolo and some of his fellow Ijaw kinsmen like Sen. James Manager by a particular so called Urhobo group is totally unacceptable and should be discouraged by any reasonable Urhobo indigene. In an election, individual have the right to vote for whoever they so please, if chief Tompolo and his kinsmen decide to maintain the peace and unity of Delta by doing the right thing with their conscience - which is not to impose an Ijaw man with their strength and connection as this group actually attested to, but rather to play fair by respecting the zoning arrangement of Delta state which actually favors the Delta North at this moment, then we think these men are true Deltans and meant well for the peace and unity of our state. We believe that instead of instigating the Urhobos against their Ijaw neighbours we should rather commend them for their show of patriotism by not trying to use their closeness to Mr. President to destabilize the state like many would have done by trying to impose an Ijaw man as governor. This we find very commendable and should be applauded by all well meaning Deltans most of all the Urhobos who have benefited immensely from the support structure of other ethnic groups. Also this group should refrain from declaring that the Urhobos will not vote for Mr. President because of whatever grudges they are nursing. The Urhobos are solidly behind President GoodLuck Jonathan and are fully in support of his transformation agenda and the progress and development it has ushered into this country, we shall vote massively for him come feb 14th 2015 and also we shall make sure our group mobilizes strongly to see that we return the favors we have enjoyed from our Delta North brothers in past elections to see that Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa is elected the next governor of Delta state come Feb 28, 2015. We have always been a people of peace and appreciate favors and no one shall because of his own personal loss drag our beloved Urhobo nation into some tribal and hate related conflict situation with our Delta brothers and sisters. Long Live Delta State!, Long Live The Federal Republic Of Nigeria!! Sign: Mr. Obaro Akpomiemie For Urhobo Youth Initiative Movement
