Just sent this to my mastermind group - Maybe its worth something - TopicsExpress

Just sent this to my mastermind group - Maybe its worth something to someone...? Were all getting to the age where its time to define how were going to live the rest of our lives - again. I just love Mikes statement that The best thing about having money is not having to worry about money. Thats such a profound, layered sentiment. There are few things that I dont get because of Money. If Amazon had a rewards card, Id have enough Delta points to fly to Uranus. And there are still things that cause money contemplation like quarterly taxes, or some big cash need... i.e. nothing can pull me out of my genius zone (Jeff Walker™) faster than a financial burden. Having said that, making money is now my Day Job. And Ill tell you something -- I used to not treat it like a day job, because I was all about the passion and inspiration and woo woo thats fundamental to being an Entrepreneur. You guys know what Im talking about - Do something you love and never work a day in your life. Yeah well, thats bull shit. The MINUTE I started treating money making like a day job - low and behold - I made MORE MONEY. Theres something about being able to dispassionately look at what you do from the limited perspective of Profit and Loss. Is this converting? Yes/No? Fix it, or What ACTUALLY IS this Opportunity Cost, or This employee is not performing to his KPI I know it sound counter-intuitive, but as Ive gotten older and earned more scars, I realize that I am not the sum of what my business is. Im a LOT more than what my business is. And when I stopped adding parts of my being that didnt belong in my business, the parts that I DO commit to it end up being more focused and effective. Ill tell you where I got fed up. When I read that the quote from Jay-Z. The one that says Im not a businessman. Im a business, man. I think I ingested it incorrectly (Understatement). At the end of the day, I have a business - even if Im the primary product - the business still needs to be run like a business, and not like a highly opinionated, emotionally super-charged, stubborn, idealistic, and easily distracted PERSON that I am. It wasnt until I treated my business LIKE a BUSINESS and not as an extension of myself that I started to build wealth. My 2 cents.
