Just sharing some things Im learning through this process. Its a tough one, but I really feel God will use this for HIS good, whatever that may be. I wrote down all the verse references you all sent me in my journal the other day, so that I could focus on them one by one each day. Todays verse was from Phil 4:6-9 Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything with prayer and petition, with a THANKSGIVING, present your requests to God. And the peace that transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally dear brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable- if anything is excellent and praise worthy - think on such things, whatever you have learned from me, or seen in me - put into practice. And the God of peace will be with you. Wow. I dont think I have walked through a harder season in my life, and yet I have such peace, vision and hope of the testimony this will be for our little family and especially for our Boy. Yesterday I had the honour of hearing another familys story. They are from Yellowknife and their 6year old son was just diagnosed on Friday with an incurable form of brain cancer. We hugged and in our embrace shed tears. She shared with me how they had to make a choice if they would do palliative chemo to give him a few more weeks, or let the cancer take its course, To top it all off, he has an identical twin brother who is showing similar symptoms. I dont say this to make you sad, but one to pray for this family who are really broken right now, and two to tell you how God used this as a reminder that there is always something to be thankful for. That out of our thanksgiving HE brings us peace. Im handful my boy has a good shot at coming out cancer free, Im thankful I live in edmonton, Im thankful I have Jesus, and Im thankful I have a body of believers lifting our family high and helping us to stand. Maybe you dont have a child with cancer, but maybe the battle youre facing seems all consuming. I want to encourage you to find something to be thankful for in your situation, and allow God to pour out his healing peace into your heart. The footnotes in my bible say that anxiety and prayer are two great opposing forces in Christian experience. [but that] thanksgiving [is] the antidote to worry (along with prayer and petition). Thank you for praying and petitioning to the father for the life of my little boy. I am beyond thankful for each and everyone of you supporting us on this journey.
