Just sharing something personal - last weekend we were in our local Tesco and buying a few bits that wed forgotten. Behind us was a mum and her two children loading tins onto the belt for the food bank. I talked to Sofie about it and we decided to get a few bits to donate. Shopping carefully, we filled three bags. Sofie felt so pleased to hand over the tins and boxes we had gathered, and I was proud of her for doing so. She asked how much we had spent and I explained we had filled the bags for less than I was planning on spending on lunch out for our planned treat that day, and got so much more food. She was very keen to know the children wouldnt be hungry, and appreciated she was a lucky one. Im not saying this because I dont think you should have treats yourself, I create a luxury item with you myself, after all, but I am mentioning it in case you find yourself at the supermarket this weekend, and have room in your basket for a tin or two extra. Most food banks have a list of what they need, but every thing is appreciated, so maybe while we are all spoiling ourselves and eachother this year we can extend a few of those pennies and thoughts to our local food banks too, and involve our children in the spirit of giving. Heres the link to my local foodbank, and Google will find yours quickly. Thanks for reading x haroldhill.foodbank.org.uk/
