Just thinking: Are Islamic Jihadists simply barbaric...? In many parts of the world Islamic Jihadists are wrecking havoc...from Nigeria, to Syria to Iraq to Asian countries to here in America (lone wolf like Major Hassan), yet world leaders and liberal media outlets keep repeating the phrase religion of peace, the president of the US even tried talking Jihadist out of Jihad with speeches, and saying the Jihadists are not only a small minority but hijacking Islam...so what is the Truth (after reading please do your own study). Jihad is a fight, a struggle or a battle, many scriptural reference in the Quran and Hadith points to Jihad being the struggle for the supremacy of Islam over other religions such as Judaim and Christianity (specifically mentioned) see Sura 4: 74, Sura 9: 89, Sura 2: 216, Sura 47: 4, Sura 9: 123, Sura 4: 89, Sura 4: 102, Sura 5: 33, Sura 8: 13-17 and lots more. In the Hadith, Sheik Bukhari (book 52) and Sheik Sahl bin Sad as-Saidi both emphasized the teaching of combat as holy fighting. For a better understanding, it is important to know about the Prophet Mohammed and the religion, Islam. Prophet Mohammed The prophet was born Abu al-Qasim Muhammad ibn Abd Allah ibn Abd al-Muttalib Hashim at about 570 AD. He became an orphan quickly in life, losing his dad in 569 AD and his mom in 576 AD, his uncle Abu Talib became his surrogate parent. He started work early, serving security for merchants, where he met his first and only wife for 14 years Khadijah (and 15 years older than him), after her death in 619 AD (same year his uncle died), he married 12 more wives. He died in 632 AD. About the time he was 40 years old (about 610 AD), prophet Mohammed started started receiving words from angel Gabriel from God in a cave, the primary word were that his people are to abandon animistic polytheism, and follow one God - Allah. He converted his wife and uncle and a few other people and as he succeeded the people in Mecca (his home) tolerated him because of his uncle Abu Talib. With Abu Talibs death in 619 AD, his people in Mecca drove him away, and he went to Medina, where he became a spiritual and political leader. After establishing dominance and authority in Medina, prophet Mohammed and his followers attacked Mecca in series of raids (about 12 in all - from both sides), by the time of his death in 632 AD, he and his followers have conquered the entire region (Arab Peninsula) politically and replaced every single form of religion with Islam (which means - submission). The Quran given to the prophet directly from angel Gabriel starting in 610 AD lasted till about 632 AD, the first 11 years where periods under persecution in Mecca, and the last 12 years were when he was a religious and political leader, seeking to dominate the region. So there are conflicts in the writings (or revelations), a conflicts acknowledged and addressed by the prophet himself in Surah 16: 101 and Sura 2: 106 - known as Abrogation. Islam as a Religion As we read in the short biography above, Islam as a religion is the brain child of prophet Mohammed through revelations by angel Gabriel. It believes in five pillars: Shahadah - the statement of belief there no God but Allah and Mohammad is the messenger, Salat - praying five times a day facing Kabba, Zakat - giving alms (2.5% of income), Sawm - ramadan fast and Hajj - travel to Mecca at least once. Islam is a fusion of religion and state, with a unitarian (religion/political) kingdom (Caliphate) in view based on a religious law known as Shariah. A muslim state, would be a Theocratic form of government. Islam recognizes two holy books, the Al-Quran (given to the prophet by angel Gabriel) and the Hadith (a gospel written by those close to the prophet in his lifetime). It is a religion of works (see Sura 23: 102 -103) and requires forceful conversion (see Sura 3: 85, Sura 9: 29 and Sura 5: 33). Islam believes there is a paradise where humans are rewarded, it believes that salvation is by works, Allah would judge everybodys works and weigh the good and evil, including the prophets, except those who die in Jihad (see Sura 4: 74 and Sura 9: 89) - for them Allah has got ready gardens (paradise) under which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. That is supreme success - Sura 9: 89. Unlike in Christianity where humans nature is fallen and sinful and Pantheism where human nature is good, in Islam human nature is neutral. After the prophet died in 632 AD, one of his close associates and father-in-law Abu Bakr took over the political and administrative functions, while his cousin Ali (son of uncle Abu Talib) took over as the Imam (religious leader) - this division is the beginning of the Shia and Sunni separation. Successive caliphs took Islam to the world forcefully, predominantly Northern Africa, Asia Minor and parts of Europe. Jihad and Modern Islam The eschatological and theological doctrines of Islam point to not being sure of heaven but based on works which only Allah weighs, however, heaven is assured with Jihad - fighting for the spread and cause of Islam (again see Sura 9: 89). As the world changes and world religions are diluted, modern Islam is also diluted into liberal/secular, moderate/traditionalists and Fundamentalists. The seculars believe more the Heifers (the peace and love verses of the Quran written in earlier Mecca years) - the only problem is that abrogation cancels out those verses. Traditionalists (moderates) interpret jihad as a spiritual battle of mind and not conquering kingdoms - the only problem is that one is not sure of their sincerity based on the principle of Taqiyya and Kitman which allows deceit and lying when in minority, something the prophet endorsed, as stated in the Hadith. Many believe that the current wave of fundamentalist ideology started with Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, who lived between 1703-1792 and advocated for a purist form of Islam (more like in the conquest era) - Wahhabism is an ideology of fundamental Islam today. Another father of modern fundamentalist movement is Sayyid Qutb, a very educated Egyptian who hated the alliance and influence of western countries (particularly America) on Arab nations, upon return to Egypt after two years in America, he joined - actually made Muslim Brotherhood relevant by trying to overthrow the government of Gamal Nasser in Egypt. Since these two men preached and wrote about Islam in its purest form, the fundamentalist ideology lives on (is now cool) among the young ones. First to be practiced in Arab countries, second to rid the the world of obstacles to Islamic domination (obstacles such as Kaffirs - unbelievers, who promote materialism and immorality) and lastly to ensure Islam (as a religious and political organ) and Sharia dominate the world. Today... For a Muslim (one who submits to Allah) who believe in fundamentalist ideology, re-establishing the Caliphate with Sharia as law is a must, being obedient by forcefully (even killing) proselytizing Kaffirs is a good thing, and getting rid of other muslims with secular or moderate view is simply a necessary evil. Western leaders cannot continue to hide under political correctness and link arm with organizations like CAIR (I heard they changed their name to WFT) and we as a people can no longer be ignorant as well (do your homework). Pray for your Muslim friends, ask that they study Islam, not simply listen to an Imam, and if confused they should pray that God should lead them to the Truth. link to Noble Quran for reference quran
