Just turn em off--CNN, FOX, MSNBC, it dont matter. Twenty-four - TopicsExpress

Just turn em off--CNN, FOX, MSNBC, it dont matter. Twenty-four hour news has reached an all-time low in terms of any actual journalism. Watching CNN this morning report on the Ebola crisis. Now there is one person in Dallas, Texas with Ebola, I fully expect some news anchor/personality will tell us to tape up the windows and move into isolation chambers. Little mention that Ebola is not an airborne disease and is only transmitted through blood or body fluids. But like political strategists, the news business has learned average Americans are best moved by fear and ignorance. Its the same with coverage on this latest war against ISIS. Less than a week after we started bombing ISIS, frantic news anchors are saying, Its been a week! Whats wrong with this strategy? Im not commenting on the strategy in Irag and Syria, but I do know that nothing much happens in a week, especially in a complicated war. And all wars are seriously complicated. For or against this latest effort, you should at least understand that wars arent resolved in the time it takes to watch a 6 hour mini-series. What bothers me most is what has always bothered me about both politics and the news/entertainment business. Its the necessity to bring everything down to the lowest common denomination, to dumb everything down to the point where we can all equally not learn a damned thing. Folks, life has very few simple answers. Life is difficult and very complicated. Those folks on your TV arent political geniuses or generals. They are not our best and brightest They are former radio and TV majors with good hair. My advice? Ignore them like you did in college.
