Just two weeks ago Dan Ronan was in my apartment and he wanted me to look at his back. He had chronic issues with his back and last time he was in Chicago he asked me to look at it and we never did. I used it as an excuse to see him because I loved him. He came over he looked great and I dont know if me stretching him and rolling his back out helped but it was good to see him and catch up. He asked me for painkillers and I feel awful in hindsight I didnt speak up or try and be a better ear. Dan was one of the first comics I met in the scene. I met him at HiTops open mic and he did a joke about how he wished 9/11 could have been planned and we could have put all the people we hate in the buildings and in the first tower would be Nickelback. I was laughing so hard I introduced myself to him and booked him in a showcase I was helping run. From there we became friends and talked about starting our own open mic or showcase and then he moved to LA but was always helpful and tried to get me to help out with CYSK and get more involved in the scene and gave me advice. I was jealous how someone so young was so fearless on stage. And how talented he was. I am beyond sad, angry, and in disbelief. We were supposed to be doing shows this weekend at Zanies and I was looking forward to it. I would go as far to say this is as tragic as any comedian like losing Hedberg or Giraldo because of the potential he had and what he already showed he was capable of. I always loved you Dan. I cant believe youre gone.
