Just walked in the house. Been fishin...with Carol Carpenter - TopicsExpress

Just walked in the house. Been fishin...with Carol Carpenter Mullins. I have paddled Carol around that pond for many years. Usually I sit quietly and watch her try to catch bass. I listen to her ohs and uhhhs and occasional respond with ohhh, wow almost, and dang, you were so close. Then I paddle on, and on, and on. Today was different... I broke down, went to walmart, spent 5 minutes trying to decide on the king of cheap rods, Zebco, or the one up Shakespeare . Shakespeare won. Then I grabbed some shiny hooks and a nice colorful cork and headed for checkout. With a swipe of the card I was officially in business. This afternoon Carol says...I want to go fishing. Now this usually is followed with a Yes Dear and an orange boat paddle glued to my hand. Not today dang it. Not today. I met Carol at the boat with my rod and reel and a bucket of night crawlers, fresh from the mulch pile. She seemed a little out of her element as we pushed off. We headed for her favorite spot. Her first cast was a thing of beauty, Bill Dancesque. My orange cork hit about 20 feet away, making a big kaplunk. Within seconds the cork was under...I hollered ...fish on, fish on..like the guy on river monsters. As I reeled, the fish jumped into the air, not because he really jumped..I jerked the crappie out of him, and to the boat he came. Thats 1. I kept paddling and Carol kept casting, followed by an orange missile with a splash. 2,3,4..many more. It got to the point that the night crawlers were begging for mercy. Finally we made it back to the bank, loaded up the gear and headed home. Wow, now that is what fishing feels like? I cant wait until tomorrow. Hey Carol, You wanta go fishin? Grab the paddle.
