Just want all of our dear friends to hear this first hand.. GR and I have had to make the painful decision to let our home in DeFuniak go. It will be sold on the courthouse steps Monday, October 20, at 11:00. 97 E Live Oak was built in 1905. We absolutely loved that home and will miss it terribly. Im going to share some final photos of the home we moved into on December 19, 1987, and Courtney and Curtis shared every Christmas and birthday in for their entire lives. It was more than a house, it was our home. I just want everyone to promise me one thing... When you drive past 97 east Live Oak Avenue, Defuniak Springs, Fl.. You will laugh and smile and remember the happy Miller family that lived it for 29 years! Remember the Halloween parties with 600+ trick or treaters, 27 birthday parties, baby walkers on the front sidewalk, strollers headed out for walks around the lake to feed the ducks, training wheels, bicycles, electric jeeps, kids running wild and playing basketball in the driveway, first cars with bows on 16th birthdays, Christmas decorations to rival Chevy Chase in Christmas Vacation, baby Lola and her boyfriend in front of Santa on Christmas Eve during Christmas reflections in 2005 resulting in 13 puppies.....cheerleading practice and tennis balls against the house in the driveway, paintball parties, smoke coming from the chimney and Courtneys playhouse. 11 Prom pictures, wedding pictures for Jenny And George, receptions, teas , and showers for dear friends, special Events, grandchildren running amok, graduation photos , pics of kids leaving for college, the swing Jerry Hodges made for us and senior parades going by. Easter egg hunts and Thanksgivings and the famous lighting of the leg lamp in the window from A Christmas Story! The house is wood and nails... But the home is everlasting memories, laughter and smiles! So please smile and remember that Miller family when you drive by... And know that no one ever enjoyed or loved a home more than we did Millers Gate House..... Proudly Listed forever on the registry of historic places:) we were very lucky to have had the privilege to enjoy it ..and pray another family loves it half as much as we did:) Love to all... The George Ralph Miller family... GR, Dawne, Courtney & Curtis
