Just want to make sure my Facebook friends are properly aware of what the Supreme Court actually ruled today: The Supreme Court did not legalize gay marriage. The court struck down a law that denied federal benefits for gay couples that are already legally married. For Prop 8, they ruled that the proponents for Prop 8 who were fighting to appeal a CA lower court decision had no legal standing to do so. So the CA lower court decision stands in CA. The rulings today did nothing to end the debate. It was more of a deflection if you ask me.
