Just wanted to share a comment I made on changing the name of the Washington Redskins. Oh boo hoo. The Redskins are one of the most visible and high profile images of Native America, if you take that then we are out of sight and out of mind. Is it the word skins that offends you? We call ourselves skins! Is it the word red? We are red. Natives refer to themselves as Red men. The old chiefs like Seattle and Sitting Bull referred to themselves as the red men. With the Redskins we have our image, right in the nations capital where millions of people see it every week. Instead of being a liberal thin skinned Indian why dont you use this to do something positive. Change the name to RED Nation, or the Red Thunder or some damn thing that fits your politically correct touchy feely opinion, but dont remove our image from Washington. Keep it in their face.
