Just wanting to raise awareness as I am having trouble with the local supermarkets. Assistance dogs (not companion dogs) if registered, wearing their vest and have id are allowed anywhere except food prep areas, eg behind the deli). I was requested to leave woolies again today as he is not a guide dog! In saying this I dont see many blind people doing grocery shopping in Braille. Bolo is a diabetes assistance dog, who scents the differences in my blood sugar approximately half an hour before my blood test will pick it up. He is my life support 24/7 and I am happy to discuss with any shop owner the disability discrimination act (we carry it with us to educate) or happy to shop in places we are not discriminated against. He does not pee in the supermarket, he does not pull anything off the shelves and walks alongside a trolley quite well. He does not bark, he does not growl. He loves kids and attention. If you see us, say hi, if you hear someone complain, speak up.
