KBC 2014 and Contemporary Indian Politics It’s October 11, 2014 and I am in the midst of an unusual drama while seating on the hot seat and facing Mr. Bachchan on the sets of KBC 2014 on the inaugural day which also happens to be his birthday. While the political India in gearing up for another Mid-term polls after 1999 (the Congress, quite characteristically and true to its character, has pulled out after creating another HD Devegauda, a la 1996-97), I am elated because I have broken the jinx after 14 agonizing years and have even succeeded in reaching the ‘Hot Seat’. Having exhausted all my Lifelines, other than the ‘Expert advice’, I am faced with the 50 Lacs question, the 11th one. Mr Bachchan – “Jhaji, aur 50 lakh rupyon ke liye ye raha aapka sawaal”. Which political party in India has maximum no of PM-in-waiting candidates? And here are your options – A) Congress B) Aam Aadmi Party C) BJP D) None of these I am tempted to go with the option C; however, since it’s a 50 Lac question I won’t take the chance. I ask for my final lifeline, the ‘Expert Advice’. And who is the expert on this very first episode of 2014? Sri L K Advani . When consulted the ‘Expert’ says that the correct option is D – None of these. I politely disagree and say ‘’ Sir, I think BJP has maximum no of PM-in-waiting candidates and i.e. two. Apart from you it also has Narendra Modi now”. The BJP patriarch fumes and says “ Dekhiye jab tak main jinda Hoon, aap Bhajapa se kisi aur ke bare mein soch bhi kaise sakte hain? Isiliye kehta hoon ki vikalpa D hi sahi hai”. I am quite perplexed and tries to argue with him – “ lekin Sir, aapki party ne to abhi 6 mahine pehele chunawon mein…..” Suddenly the famous KBC hooter makes its presence felt and I have no option but to wait for another day. I also thank the hooter for saving me from my Expert’s wrath.
