KINDNESS! Kindness is like silver, if given out it turns to gold, but if witheld it turns to brass. Even the scriptures affirms that kindness is best when expressed, or shared; like lighting the pathways, if you do, you can never miss the illumination too. Kindness is a gesture or an attitude of being kind, which is expressed by charitable and decent acts, considerate disposition, free-will concern for humans and other living beings. It is an act that makes people feel worthwhile. Kindness is regarded as a virtue, and accepted as something of value in all religions and amongst the whole of human race. That is to say in kindness, every time you support any person to stand on his own, you have helped the whole of humanity rise above all else. From experience, the show of kindness benefits both the expressor (giver) and the beneficiary (receiver) of the kindness. This happens because of human-body chemistry that releases neurotransmitters that brings about the feelings of contentment, satisfaction, and relaxation during the act of kindness. Kindness can create a virtuous feedback that promotes lasting happiness and altruism. And it is discussed and valued in every aspect of human existence; IN RELIGIONS: Islam; In Islam its said that those who act in kindness on this earth will find kindness, Quran 39.10. Hence from beginning to the end of our lives we all depend on one anothers kindness in one way or the other. Islam has so many Surahs of Allahs kindness to his followers. Prophet Mohammad SAW personally said Allah is kind and He loves kindness. Amongst the first cultures of attitudes bequeathed to the children of Muslems is the Seminal doctrine Have Mercy to those on earth and the One in Heaven shall have mercy upon you. Mercy as used here wholly embodies Kindness. Christianity; In Christianity, kindness is regarded as one amongst the seven virtues, specifically one amongst the seven contrary virtues to the seven deadly sins, that are the opposite of envy. In another developement, the Talmud claims that deeds of kindness are equal in weight to all the commandmentsWhile Paul of Tarsus considers love as patience and kind... (1 Corinthians 13:4). Even the Lord appreciates whoever shows kindness, Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deed And kindness is tagged amongst the list of Christian Fruits of the Spirit in the letter to Galatians 5:22, which says The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, fruithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Anything against such fruits of spirit will amount to no law. ANIMALS; Since kindness comes from the feeling for the helpless, animals are also good to be shown kindness as enphasised by Cesar Chavez “Kindness and compassion towards all living things is a mark of a civilized society. Conversely, cruelty, whether it is directed against human beings or against animals, is not the exclusive province of any one culture or community of people. LITERATURE; In literature, it has been recommended that most of Shakespeares opus be considered for a study of human Kindness. While Robert Louis Stevenson says the essence of love is kindness; and indeed it may best be defined as passionate kindness; kindness if otherwise, run mad and become exigent and violent. IN PHILOSOPHY; With respect to Aristotles Rhetorics in his book two, which says kindness is one of the emotions, that is defined as the act of helpfulness towards someone in need, not return for anything, nor for the advantage of the helper himself, but for that of the person so helped. He also said be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle. In support of Aristotle, Mark Twain says Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear, and the blind can see. But Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche contested that kindness and love are the most curative herbes and agents in human intercourse . Kindness is also regarded as one of the virtues of Knigthood. However, another Philosopher, Honza z Zizkova contended that kindness is the most important part of his practical philosophy on deceiving beaurocracy. Kindness is yet considered by many to be one commandment that is missing from the Ten Commandments. PSYCHOANALYSIS; Psychoanalists caution that real kindness alters persons who show kindness, mostly in an unimaginable ways. Real kindness is a two way gesture that has essencially unpredictable consequences. It was also contested that in relationship, real kindness, real feeling of companionship, precipitates hate and being hated, ie feeling some sort of frustrations, arriving at the entrance of existence of real relationship. Friends, ever noticed that kindness in words creates confidence, in thinking creates profoundness, and in giving creates love?
