KIRKCALDY VISIT: Archbishop Leo Cushley marked the Solemnity of St Andrew by making a pastoral visit to the staff and pupils of St Andrews High School in Kirkcaldy, 28 November. The Archbishop offered Holy Mass to mark the special occasion. He also had morning coffee with teachers in the staff room, ate lunch with students in the school library before participating in a question-and-answer session with senior pupils. He was accompanied by school chaplain, Father Simon Hughes. It was a pleasure to welcome His Grace back to Kirkcaldy and to St Andrews High, said the schools headteacher Patrick Callaghan. We are indebted to him that he was able to spend the whole day with us meeting staff, pupils and invited guests. His sermon on the St Andrews cross as a symbol of strength and strength of faith was well received by staff and pupils alike during Mass. All our school community of over 800 pupils gathered for Mass, participated fully, allowing for a prayerful atmosphere and also listened very attentively to His Graces recent adventures on the Forth Road Bridge, a time when a strong faith was no doubt much needed.
