KLIN-FIRE!! Greetings! First, Ill talk regarding the past--that includes ARCHON in St Louis. Then, Ill write a bit about the future. Ive known both of these Klingon rascals for a while-- now its YOUR chance to welcome them into KLIN-FIRE!! and find out about them. ----- A couple of my friends and I put on the panel WHY THE FEDERATION SUCKS! This is basically a comparison between Starfleet and Klingon fandom...all slanted towards a glorious conclusion for our Empire. If youre thinking about putting this on at a convention near you, and/or are curious for details, let me know. ----- The Klingons put on a costuming panel, but not the usual type where a couple of guys sit at a table and talk on and on about what they think they know... and are continually looking at the clock, hoping to fill up the ONE-HOUR TIME. Screw all that. This panel was more show and tell, where the Klingons in costume attending were volunteered or eager to stand up and talk about how their uniforms came about. This included the use of Magic Markers, sewing tips, shortcuts for getting in (and OUT!) of the costuming. One of the highlights was a sash made from thin plastic, but which looked like silver. Metal. To the members of KLIN-FIRE!!, Ill tell you this: from here on, I dont think Ill EVER want to be on a panel or sit through a panel where its BORING and doesnt involve the Klingons in the audience. ----- When it comes to promotions, its never about because it would be nice. Also, its NEVER about because this guys been in KAG for such a long time. Give a promotion to somebody whos just existing? Basically dog-paddling? Forget it. So, upgrades in rank awarded by me are for those who (1) BUILD THINGS, (2) DO THINGS, (3) COME UP WITH IDEAS THAT PEOPLE WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN. Sometimes these ideas work out, sometimes not. But I appreciate the effort. At ARCHON, I promoted ODWIN/Kevin Carroll to the Rank of COMMANDER, with an upgrade in his honorific to sutai. Odwinn is a builder, not only with models and props, but a crafter of pins and badges which enhance the look of all who wear them. One other thing he built? The IMPERIAL KLINGON SHIPYARDS. This is a Facebook page oriented to the modelers, artists, and detail-oriented not only in KAG, but for all sorts of fandom. As such, the IKS, a growing portion of KAG, serves as a recruiting or staging area for newcomers who want to join the KLINGON ASSAULT GROUP. You of KLIN-FIRE!! dont have to build up a brand-new unit to be promoted in KAG. You just have to DO SOMETHING. One of the subjects I touched upon was that the members of the KLINGON ASSAULT GROUP ARE the clubs leaders. We cannot count upon the brass to come up with all the ideas, all the where to go/what to do stuff. SO... We have to figure out a good portion of that ourselves, and then share the ideas not only with our ship-crews, but with the rest of KLIN-FIRE!! KAG will only survive if we bring in new members, and that can only really happen when we break away from the usual. KLIN-FIRE!!, if you try the same recruiting efforts at the same conventions with the same table with the same paperwork and crap on the surface, then youre defining Crazy. Doing the same things over and over and expecting a different result. Now, young thought-admirals-on-training, listen up: Plan ahead. Its the thinking part of being a thought-admiral. To expand this fleet, it is my intention to get KAG into the program at a convention called BUBONICON, held in Albuquerque New Mexico. Will KAG have a table there? Probably. Will KAG do that WHY THE FEDERATION SUCKS Panel? Sure. Why not! Will the Klingons present at this convention be memorable? Our next convention is August 28-30, 2015 - almost a year from now. We again will be at the Albuquerque Marriott Uptown. However reservations will not start to be taken until at least March of 2015. As with most conventions, we do our weekend passes in a step-pricing fashion. The lowest cost will be available just before Thanksgiving. That is the way to get a discount versus the at-the-door price. Exactly what are you looking for, especially in terms of play (nicely)?
