KMRT had a fantastic day yesterday working closely with Castletownbere Coast Guard unit to set up a rope traverse to Crowe Island on the Beara peninsula. The event was a community initiative organised as a commemoration of Bearas other cable car, which was set up in the 1960s and used for several years by local farmer Tadgh Roger OSullivan to transport sheep to and from the island. Many thanks are due to local organiser-in-chief Paul OShea and his team, Castletownbere CG, Castletownbere RNLI, our local hosts, and of course to the amazing local community who turned up in force on the day to support the event. A great day was had by all in a spectacular location!
