KOROVA POETRY WEDNESDAY 29TH OCTOBER 7.30pm Only four days to go until Korova Poetrys second event. This will be hosted by Flora Martyr. There are ten five minute floor spaces waiting for you to snap up. Please arrive early to book. We have two superb headline acts: Sarah Miller is a poet, theatre deviser and playwright based in Salford. She has a poem carved into a stone pathway in her hometown of Barrow-in-Furness, was co-editor of Best of Manchester Poets 2 (Puppywolf) and as well as being a regular on the spoken word circuit in Manchester, has performed her work and facilitated workshops from South Cumbria to West Africa. She is currently devising a play with Barrow Youth Theatre and working on a joint poetry collection with Melanie Rees which is being published in 2015. Terry Quinn was born in Birmingham and settled in Preston in 1995 working at the Royal Preston Hospital after travelling all round this country and the Middle East in his career as a Medical Engineer. He had some success as a poet in his twenties but then took a 25 year career break before starting writing properly again in 1999 and has since been widely published in most of the national poetry magazines. In 2010 he was nominated for one of the Forward Prizes for poetry and the following year saw the publication of his first collection ‘away’. He retired in 2012 to concentrate on writing poetry and since then has published ‘the amen of knowledge’ as a result of winning the Geoff Stevens Memorial Prize. This year he was a runner up in the Guernsey International Literary Festival and the BBC Proms Poetry Competition. Looking forward to seeing you there :)
