KWANKWASO LAUNCHES AMANA TRAVELS AND TOURS WITH N35 MILLION CAPITAL Kano state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso on Thursday, launched the Kano Amana Travel and Tours Company, as part of efforts to exploit potentials of the travel industry, as a major component of tourism. Incorporated with a share capital of N35 million, the company, which is fully certified by the International Air Transport Association, IATA, will be managed by 14 skilled travel agency graduates from the Kano Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies. Launching the company at Government House, Kano, Gov. Kwankwaso revealed that the company has been incorporated with a share capital of N35 million said the government was encouraged to establish the company, given the vintage position of Kano as a commercial nerve center in Northern Nigeria. The governor, therefore, called on the public, private establishments and airlines companies to patronize the company, to guarantee its sustainability and to support the government’s drive for job creation and poverty alleviation. The governor stated that his administration is working tirelessly to bring back the lost glory of Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, adding that efforts are on to bring more international airlines to commence full flight operations from the airport. In his speech, the Director-General, National Institute of Hospitality and Tourism Studies, represented by Alhaji Ashiru Alaya, praised the government of Kano state for investing in the travel and tourism sector, with a view to empowering youths. On his part, the Coordinator, Kano Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Studies, Alhaji Zakari Bagwai said the institute has so far trained 1,482 people who have been empowered by the government in the tune of about N100 million. The Manager Turkish Airline, Kano, Mr. Ahmad Can Akbuga, who also spoke during the ceremony, thanked the state government for paving way for his airline to resume flight operation in the state.
