KWEF Research Grant Program 2014 (for Overseas Research) The KWEF supports scientists in ASIAN countries who are conducting research in their own countries on the conservation and restoration of water resources, which are defined as oceans, surface water and underground water as well as the areas of land adjacent to them. Notes : These grants are intended to support academic research. Programs aimed primarily at generating business profit are not eligible. Overseas Research Grant Criteria for the KWEF Research Grant 1.Areas of Research Supported Any research subject in field of water resources is acceptable, provided that the water area studied is located in the researchers home country. Examples of appropriate research subjects are Physical and chemical properties of water New technologies for conservation and restoration of water resources. (River, Lake, Pond, Discharge etc.) New technologies for water measurement and assessment 2.Applicant The applicant must be a citizen of the country in which he or she resides. The applicant must conduct research at university, college, or associated institute. The applicant should be under 40. The applicant must submit a recommendation letter of Japanese researcher who resides in the applicants country or Japan. 3. Duration of Grant The grant period will be one year, from October 1, 2014 to September 30, 2015. 4. Obligations of the Recipients of research grants (1) Submission of a repor a ) Summary Report Recipients of research grants must submit a summary report fill in English on the results of their research to the chief director of KWEF by October 31, 2015. This report should consist of a one or two pages (A4 size) description of the results gathered to date, along with any necessary supplementary materials. b ) Expense Report The researcher must also submit an expense report, by October 31, 2014. This should consist of an itemized list of expenses paid for with the grant money, and should be attached by Receipts. (2) Submission of papers published The researcher should be also submit copies of the research paper to the KWEF. Recipients should describe the acknowledgment in papers. Kurita Water and Environment Foundation Grant 5.Application (1)Application Form for Research Grant The applicant must submit a project proposal outlining the plan and budget of his or her research program by E-mail with Excel Form fill in English, along with a letter of recommendation from the applicants Japanese recommender, to KWEF. (2) Application Period From April 1 to May 15, 2014 6.Selection The grantee will be selected by the KWEF Board of Directors, based on the advice of the Selection Committee. The chief director will inform of the boards decision to each applicant by letter. 7.Amount of grant A maximum of 500,000 yen per project per year Notes: The KWEF Research Grant should be used for the basic expenses of the research program, such as the purchase of equipment and reagent, travel costs, and other expenses associated with fieldwork. Recipient would inform us the bank account which could handle US dollar. Consideration Handling of research that has been adopted KWEF will publish the recipient the adopted theme, recipient name and institute on KWEF website. KWEF will send the summary report of research to parson who request, unless the recipients do not agree to publish. * Research results report, a rule published unless the researcher does not understand.
