KYDEX, LLC, SEKISUI America Corporation, and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble collaborate for a day of free science and art Bloomsburg, PA USA. June 4, 2014. On Saturday, August 2, 2014, KYDEX, LLC, Sekisui America Corporation, and the Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble are teaming up to offer FREE science workshops during Science and Technology: For Real! for rising 4th and 5th grade students (students in grades 2014/2015 school year) in the Bloomsburg, Central, and Southern Columbia School districts. Chemists and engineers from KYDEX and Sekisui will teach hands-on experiments featuring the science behind products that improve our lives and keep us safe. “This event is in recognition of Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble’s Noh Training Project 20th Anniversary Celebration,” Elizabeth Dowd, Producing Director of Noh Training Project and Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble member explains, “KYDEX and Sekisui America have long been supporters of the Noh Training Project, and this day is a terrific opportunity to celebrate science as part of everyday life as brought to us by Japanese/American manufacturing companies. Saturday, August 2, 2014 | FREE Bloomsburg High School cafeteria, 9:00-10:30AM, 11:00AM-12:30PM, and 1:00PM-2:30PM Each workshop includes the same four experiments that explore how science and technology improve our lives and keep us safe with products we use every day: perfect for the budding scientist, engineer, or overall curious mind. Enrollment of up to 30 students in each workshop is on a first-come, first-served basis. Register at bte.org by July 15th. Classes are free. Noh Training Project’s Torchlight Performance of Hagoromo August 1 and 2, 2014 | FREE and open to the public Bloomsburg Town Park Bandshell, Sunset NTP will present torchlight performances of the Noh play Hagoromo featuring projected English subtitles, unusual instruments, and magnificent costumes. Families are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets and enjoy a glimpse of one of the oldest theatrical forms in the world seldom seen outside of Japan. The Noh Training Project is a summer three-week intensive, performance-based training program in the dance, chant, music, and performance history of Japanese classical noh drama.
