Kaduna Govt describes Elder Statesman Paul Unongo as a white liar over comments PDP governors The Kaduna State government yesterday in a statement expressed sadness over an alleged assertion by Chief Paul Unongo that northern governors were not invited to the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council meeting. Government spokesman Ahmed Maiyaki said in the statement that “we have noticed with disappointment the erroneous and self serving publications by some newspapers sponsored by one Dr. Paul Unongo, claiming that State Governors were not invited to the meeting of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council meeting that held in Kaduna on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. “While we don’t hold brief for other state governors that attended the meeting, we however view Unongo’s claim as not only disrespectful but a white lie as His Excellency Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State was duly invited by the Council to attend the event. “For the avoidance of doubt, Governor Yero was invited to the meeting in a letter dated January 6, 2014 signed by His Royal Highness, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar CFR, who signed on behalf of His Eminence, Sultan Sa’ad Abubakar III, chairman of the Council. “Governor Yero and his other colleagues were not only present at the meeting, but were allowed to deliver addresses after which Governor Yero declared the meeting open. We wonder how the governors may have ‘gate crashed’ into a meeting that they were all invited by the original organizers. “The wicked assertion that the Governors were walked out of the meeting is simply borne out of the figment of Unongo’s imagination, as there was no time at the event that such situation took place.”
