Kalusha tips Zambia to beat Ghana in Kumasi:- --------------------------------------------------------- Football Association of Zambia,FAZ President Kalusha Bwalya believes Zambia will advance to the next round ahead Ghana. Though the Black Stars are now a point ahead the Chipolopolo Boys after the weekend’s fixtures which saw Zambia held at home by Sudan in a ‘grudge match’ and 24 hours later Ghana beat Lesotho 2-0, the 1988 African Footballer of the Year still has faith in Zambia. “I am confident that we will go through to the next round. We will go to Ghana to beat them,” Great Kalu has been quoted in Zambia Daily Mail. Kalusha is not new to this rivarly between the two countries and come September, he will be telling the boys about the spirit of the 1988 squad, who defied odds and held their own and dumped a star studded Black Stars to qualify to the Seoul Olympics. Back then, Zambia again had Ghana on it’s way and goals from Wisdom Chansa and Kalusha earned the KK11 side a 2-0 win in the first leg. Despite that advantage to Zambia, many tipped Ghana to overtun the leg but they failed as they could only manage a goal courtesy of an Abdul Razak strike. Zambia advanced to thanks to a 2-1 aggregate and the rest is history. A decade later, it was another Olympics qualifier decider but this time a Ghana side led by Micheal Essien and Sulley Muntari triumphed over a Peter Kaumba coached side with the likes of Collins Mbesuma, Chris Katongo, Noah Chivuta, Billy Mwanza in its ranks. The battle in Kumasi won’t be an easy one but it could another chance for Zambia to make a statement.
