Kansas City, MO- Members of the Omega Iota Zeta chapter spent the early afternoon of March 8th and April 19th doing community service along Missouri Interstate-49. The chapter has a designated sign in the South Kansas City area near Belton, MO. The service events are part of the sorority’s commitment to community service as members of the Missouri Adopt A Highway and Beautification Program. March’s clean-up event was part of a month long dedication to the sorority’s Finer Womanhood principle and the April clean up was dedicated to the “No More Trash” Bash celebration. The Trash Bash is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) as part of their ongoing No MOre Trash! State-wide anti-litter campaign. During the month of April, Missourians help make Missouri beautiful as a part of the annual No MOre Trash! Bash. By participating Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Omega Iota Zeta Chapter joined thousands across Missouri. In March and April, the chapter collected over twenty bags of trash. Annual volunteer efforts to pick up trash on Missouri highways are valued at $1.5 million. MODOT spends approximately $5 million to $6 million each year picking up litter. Omega Iota Zeta chapter’s next event is May 4th. They will participate in the March for Babies event in Kansas City Power & Light in partnership with the March of Dimes Organization.
