#KashmirFloods Day 12 update: We have started providing food rations in Jammu, that last for 15 days before the government food supply pipeline is put in place. The rations include rice, wheat flour, salt and oil. Our immediate aim is to take care of dietary requirements of the worst affected and unreached population here for the next few weeks. Cash transfers have also been planned. In Srinagar, two water filters were installed at a relief camp in Rainawari that shelters around 2,000 people. Chlorine tablets were distributed in various camps in the city. Two water tanks of 60,000-litre capacity were chlorinated at the Bone and Joint Hospital in Barzulla, Srinagar. The Public Health Engineering department in Jammu has also requested us to assist them with our water purifying equipment. Neighbourhoods that immediately need water, food, cooking gas – there’s a crisis of this item in the city, solar lights, blankets and medicines include Kursu Rajbagh, Mansoor Colony and Boat Colony in Bemina. People from Qamarwari and Bemina are complaining of nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite, because of the stink from the dead livestock floating on floodwaters. There have also been reports of skin disease complaints. Photo credit: Tairah Firdous You can help us with our relief work. Contribute now! oxf.am/DgR
