Keep this in the back of your mind as I tell you this story, our record for saving lives was 27 horses in 9 days............. Below is a picture of Ripple Effects, a horse saved from slaughter this week. As I tell you this story, you will see how he got that name. You see on Wednesday I was at the car race track and I get a frantic call from Rebecca Bolton insisting that I get the horse in the first picture below safe, she didnt care the cost, she didnt what it was or if it had 3 legs and 1 ear, I WANT THAT HORSE! is all she kept screaming. Honestly, I tried to talk her out of it. Becky, be realistic, we know NOTHING about that horse, all we can see is the top of its head and back. She didnt care. I had no tag number, nothing. I called the kb and texted him that picture. He found the horse in the chute being loaded to go to slaughter. I begged him to stop the truck and change the paperwork, remember these are federal papers so that change costs him money, but he agreed to do it. That was one damn lucky horse was all I could say. Curiosity got the best of me and I decided to ride along with Nancy Diaz to the kill pen on Thursday to pick up this horse. That is when I took the second pic below. Beth met us there. That resulted in more horses being pulled, in the dark, crappy pics, hardly any videos, and limited information. Because of those crappy photos and needing videos, we were required to go back on Sunday to get good pics and information. That resulted in MORE horses being pulled. Cindy, Nancy, Beth and myself met at the kill pen on Sunday and frantically worked our asses off making calls, taking pics, and videos, sending texts and facebook messages. Many were saved that were never posted. It was a VERY long day. I started posting the ones that were not safe on Thursday night and Friday. Knowing winter is coming, knowing there has been less and less interest each week, knowing the holidays are coming. I kept telling myself, what are you doing, you are never going to be able to do this! But......EVERYTHING for these horses fell right in line, the right people seeing them, the right people sharing them to the right groups, the right donors being able to financially back them, and the right rescues all stepping up at the right time! I sit here right now in awe and amazement that this just happened and how it happened, thanks to one very lucky horse now named Ripple Effect. The ripple effect was definitely at play here!!! 36 lives saved in 6 days!!!!!!!! Thank you to the rescues that stepped up...
