Just had the privilege of seeing the iconic Steely Dan, at the Horseshoe Casino Venue ( Ken Fraza , if you havent been there, you will want to check it out... wonderful!). Rick and I headed up yesterday afternoon, played some machines in the casino, had dinner at Jack Binions Steak House... quite good but not the top of our list... then played enough slots to cover the cost of our meal ($$cha ching$$), and most of our hotel room. Once we had killed some time, we entered The Venue, where we had great seats. Ive been a Steely Dan fan for years but had always been assured that they are studio musicians and dont translate well to live performance... BEGGING to differ. They were stellar, spot-on and flanked by amazing musicians and singers. Studio-quality and better! Aja alone made the show worth the time and money but they just kept bringing it! My picks for the evening: Aja, Showbiz Kids, My Old School, Reelin in the Years and the song I quoted above, Time Out of Mind.
