Keeping Dad alive was causing him pain. I advocated for him for what he wanted, to take away all the machines. He was aware of us all. He got to talk to us and say good bye. He was dying and he knew it and we knew it. We laughed and cried and I told him I loved him. We werent there when he passed away, but what he had was a last chance to make it right. I think he did. He went in peace. You are promised nothing more than the breath you take at this moment. Its from the Bible. Somehow I find this comforting. I think its about gratitude and being thankful for what you have, what you are given, and mostly that everything is a blessing. Dad didnt want a funeral, so I dont need to do a eulogy. But if I did, this is what I would have said. Short and sweet, no frills or fluff. Straight to the point and no nonsense. ..... Just like my Dad would have wanted it.
