Kerry seeks Asias help in anti-Islamic State push JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has touched down in Indonesia for a brief visit aimed at building support for the fights against Islamic State extremists and the deadly Ebola virus. Kerry is also highlighting the Obama administrations commitment to Asia by leading the U.S. delegation to the inauguration of new Indonesian President Joko Jokowi Widodo. Kerry has separate meetings planned with senior officials from Australia, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. U.S. officials said Kerry would use those talks to press for more assistance in the fight against the Islamic State group, particularly on cracking down on the recruitment of foreign fighters from predominantly Muslim countries in Southeast Asia like Indonesia and Malaysia.
