Keshi ‘shocked’ by media reports that claimed he has resigned By Phillip Eta on July 2, 2014 Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, has added a new twist to his resignation saga, by claiming he has not formally resigned. Reports in the past two days seemed to confirm that the Big Boss has stepped down, after the Super Eagles were eliminiated from the 2014 World Cup in the round of 16. However, Keshi says he is shocked at some of the stories circulating in the media. He said: “What I said to my players was that this maybe my last match at the helm of affairs in the national team, because my contract terminates with the World Cup and I have not been offered a new one. “I was a bit shocked that the global media went to town to say I have called it quits with the national team. Resignations are not done on the pages of newspapers but formally.” The former Mali and Togo coach took over from Samson Siasia in 2011 and led Nigeria to triumph at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
