Kevin Nolan, I hope it is ok to post this on here. I got this together in the 1970s for the History Book genealogies. I think it is a real interesting family. Your Grandmother, Daisy Neely Nolan, helped me with it. Bobby. THE NOLAN FAMILY, James H. Nolan, ba 1821 in Alabama, was living on a plantation at Dover with his wife, Elizabeth Collins, who he had married 20 March 1850, the daughter of Seaborn and Mary (May) Collins who lived nearby. The Collins family was from Georgia, Seaborn coming to Pike County with his parents at the age of ten. He was in the War of 1812, enlisting at the age of 16. He married at the age of 19 and came to Yazoo County in 1821. James H. Nolan had married first Maria Louisa Bowman, b. 9 Dec 1822; d. 28 Oct 1848, daughter of Richardson Bowman and they had children: l. Tillman Nolan, born 19 March 1846; died 27 Oct 1852 2. Maria Louisa Nolan, born 18 Sept 1848; died 25 May 1903; married William Wilkins who was a prominent merchant and planter. To this union four children were born: (1) Covert, died at age 20; (2) William moved to Florida when a young man and lived there until his death at the age of 85. He had three children - Louise, dec.; Dr. Covert Wilkins and Helen (Mrs. Phillip Barksdale.) (3) Maude married Clemens Sudbeck and they lived all their married life on his plantation near Lexington. They had two children - Gladys who died while in college; and Clemens, Jr., now deceased. He was married to Louisa Ellison and they had two daughters, Sarah Evelyn (Mrs. Tim Jones) and Bettie Lynn (Mrs. David Hunt). Both of their husbands are attorneys of Jackson and Clarksdale. (4) Lillie Letitia, born Sept 24, 1876; died March 31, 1963, married in 1905, Joseph Henry Harris, who was born 30 uly 1872; died 13 Sept 1966. He was from Phoenix. Except for a few years, Lillie Wilkins Harris lived her entire life in Benton. They had four children: 1) Joseph Covert, now retired, lives in Benton in the family home. He is married to Mildred Perry from Yazoo County and they have two sons, Thomas Joseph of Midnight who is a planter, and Garnett Covert, a merchant of Ft Myers, Florida. They have four grandchildren: Scott Bowman, Mary Elizabeth, Valerie Grace, and Amy Joy. 2) Robert Bowman Harris is married to Madge Holaday of Louise. He is a planter and ginner, and is also President of the Humphreys County Board of Supervisors. 3) Jennie Louise (Mrs. A. R. Ruby) of Belzoni, has one son, Dr. Roy Harris Ruby, who is Director of the Jackson Branch of Mississippi State University. They have two children - Mary Randle and Robert Harris. 4) Mary Elizabeth Harris, the youngest child, was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 22. The Nolans lived between Seaborn Collins and Claiborne Bowman and also on the adjoining plantation to Capt. William F. Gartley, around Plainville & Dover, Yazoo County, Mississippi. James H. Nolan died in 1858 and in 1859 the Sheriff summoned five Commissioners to set apart the dower of Elizabeth Nolan, giving her 360 acres, a childs part, of the over 2000-acre plantation. The Comissioners chosen were W. L. Noble, Thomas E. Bradshaw, J. R. Young, Thomas J. Kirk, & Charles Brumfield. Wiley H. Collins, a brother of Elizabeth Nolan, was the administrator of James H.Nolans estate. The 1860 Census shows Elizabeth Nolan, age 32 as Planter with children - George 10, James 8, Mary 5, and Seaborn 3. Living in the same household was her brother, W. H. Collins, age 26, also shown as a planter. Children of James H. Nolan and his second wife, Elizabeth Collins: (Continued with George A.
