Kia-ora One and all. We @ “TITOKI” are excited that summer is almost upon us, warm weather, longer days, BBQs and holidays for all. This means more people visiting our exciting area of the Waikato region and Hamilton in the coming months. Enjoy reading the attached newsletter. Cheers John NEWS LETTER Spring –Summer-2013/2014 The days are getting longer and the weather warmer but it may be a bit early to start dusting off the barbeque. The sun is rising earlier across New Zealand and many places are already experiencing spring-like conditions. While it may still be too early to don a T-shirt and enjoy a barbecue and cold one on the deck after work, spring is here. Good news Summer is just around the corner - sweet! Summer in New Zealand means sizzling barbecues and salads, sauvignon blanc, and swimming at the beach. Christmas is celebrated in shorts and T-shirt style, as the bright crimson blooms of the pohutukawa - New Zealands native Christmas tree - line the coasts with festive colour. From December to February, New Zealand is alive with the sound of crickets, and not just the insect variety. As soon as the weather warms up, Kiwis [NZ’ers] vacate the cities and head to baches [beach house], campgrounds and holiday resorts up and down the country. Kirihimete –Your first New Zealand Christmas experience Visitors enjoying their first Christmas in New Zealand are likely to experience culture shock - when you add summer and holiday fun to the traditional annual festival it takes on a very different look. For a start the typical colours of Christmas have a different meaning in New Zealand - red, green and white have nothing to do with snow, robins and holly bushes. In the Kiwi Christmas version, red is for pohutukawa (New Zealands Christmas tree) in bloom, green stands for lush tropical vegetation offering shade from hot summer sun, and white represents vast, pale sandy beaches. All this provides the basis for a relaxed Kiwi-style Christmas where the emphasis is on the outdoors to eat, play and be merry - because the weather is warm, the country is on holiday and ‘tis the season to celebrate. New Zealand [Aotearoa] New Zealand has formally adopted names in English and Maori for its two main islands. In English, they will be known as the North Island and the South Island - names already in use but which had not been officially designated. In Maori, they will be called Te Ika-a-Maui and Te Waipounamu, which mean the fish of Maui and the waters of greenstone respectively. The move meant people could choose which name to use. The Maori names had historic and cultural significance, and appeared on early maps and charts, including government maps, until the 1950s. The English names had been used in official publications for years but had not, to date, had any formal standing, The Importance of Customer Reviews Statistically an average user will trust a user review ten times more than a product description. What are guests saying about TITOKI??? “Amazing place to be pampered!!” An awesome place to be, the minute the door opens the pampering begins. From the beautiful decor to the super friendly and professional way John and Jude make you feel special. The food and presentation is second to none. We had a lovely time there and would love to go back and would definitely recommend it to those looking for that special experience. “Amazing” This is a fantastic experience and I regret that in our one night stay we didnt get to utilize all the facilities available. John is an amazing host (tomato relish in a porcelain serving spoon for breakfast?) and honestly, your every whim has already been thought of and catered for. Plus its a free seminar on interior design. Dont even hesitate. If youre in Hamilton, make a reservation . “Your life-garden blooms” Strange title maybe, but I wanted to get quickly beyond the exquisite comfort of the accommodations, decor and meals. Jude and John get it. They understand the need without being asked. Their quality of thought is perfect for each guest. It was easy to forget about the cost. We received so much more in the bargain. They introduced us to the Kiwi life and landscape so that it became unforgettable.
