Kimberly Lamar, an environmental engineering student from Manteca attending California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, was presented with a scholarship worth $20,000 per year to help her complete her college degree. The scholarship came from Pacific Gas and Electric Co., in its third year of awarding 10 Bright Minds college students in its service area from among 5,600 applicants. An additional 90 program finalists received $2,000 toward their college costs. The PG&E Bright Minds scholarships are awarded based on a combined demonstration of community leadership, personal triumph, financial need and academic achievement.
