Kinley update: Took a step back today. Natalie was holding Kinley when she started gasping for air all of the sudden. Nurses had to entubate her again. Also, as they feed Kinley they will periodically take a residual, which means that they suck out the food still in her belly, which I guess her body didnt absorb. Today the residual was almost as much as they had fed her, so its back to IV nutrition until her body calms down and can tolerate real breast milk. Her energy levels are down too, probably because shes so feisty. She fights the nurses and her condition....pretty much anything that gets in her way. Despite all that, shes stable now, but entubation means we cant hold her. I remember before they did yesterdays procedure that the Dr did say things might get a little worse before they get better. With the widened vein, her body needs time to cleanse that right lung and circulate thoroughly. In the picture below, this reminds me of the scene on Frozen where Anna says The SKYs awake so IM awake!
