Know what annoys me about these stats... Blizzard and the player - TopicsExpress

Know what annoys me about these stats... Blizzard and the player base that does not think will go See, raids got harder because less people completed them as they grew in tier.. I honestly will say right now that anyone who even thinks that has to be a fool because I can point out a bigger reason for completion drop off, that being a lack ability on Blizzards part to keep people interested. Before I start I should also mention that every one of my close friends have played and raided in WoW at BC or earlier with only a few having started in Wrath. I can go off of my own personal experiences and observations of people I have played WoW with and make the following statement... The MOMENT MoP came out we were all gung-ho and excited about raiding, my friends having made a good amount of progress on our server... Until everyone quit... 5.2 came around and everyone was excited for ToT but we could never get everyone on at the same time suddenly when in 5.0 there were no issues with that. Even quicker than 5.0 most all of my friends quit playing again. 5.4 gets us all pumped but only 3 out of our 11 friends even bothered to play again and now its down to 1... Attempts were never even made for SoO and its because of a lack of interest, nothing could motivate any of us to raid it. The thrill and excitement is gone compared to days of old when you would look forward to getting on for raid night, and there are honestly several reasons behind this... Lets start with loot... Anyone who says WoW is not a loot centric game is wrong, you may not PLAY for that reasoning but WoW IS a loot centric game. At one time Epic Loot was a trophy, a showing that you made great accomplishments and strides in the game through hard work and dedication... Now its handed out practically for free, look at 5.4s timeless isle. I fully geared out 4 characters(My paladin, dk, shaman, and restro druid) in not even three days to the point of being able to do the new LFR and be given even better free loot with a total lack of skill on my part. I am getting loot that is only a slightly different color which in turn totally devalues the Heroic difficulty loot, especially when there are time the LFR or Normal difficulty loot looks better. I mean, sit there and ask yourself if something is amiss when you can see higher difficulty raiders transmogging their gear to lower difficulty items because they look better. Not even just the idea of trophy gear, where is the satisfaction of getting an upgrade now that all three difficulties are just the same gear with slightly different stats? Instead of looking forward to something new, going into a higher tier only means your gear will have XXXX of a stat instead of YYYY of a stat. True, there are some pieces of gear you cant get in Flex and LFR but the point remains that those pieces are so far and few between that its really not much to show for... There is no amazing trinket proc you will only get in higher tears, or gear with more sockets, or anything along those lines. Its the same exact stats, slightly tweaked values, same exact models, slightly tweaked skins... There is nothing to keep you working hard unless you just want to get that extra tiny bit of strength, you are basically just upgrading what you have and not getting anything new. Further more look how Legendaries turned out! The point of a Legendary was that it was SUPER RARE and that only a handful of players could get them in current content. Look me straight in the eye and tell me that you did not see everyone and their dog wearing a Legendary on DAY 1 of 5.4! The only people who did not have one started late OR just didnt work on it for one reason or another. By making the questline so easy, making it accessible to everyone, and making it a requirement for a world boss it basically turned a Legendary into a new kind of Key, comparable to the Key to Kara but wearable and with crazy stats. If you are not in it for the loot, to make yourself stronger and progress in an MMORPG then you were in it for the encounters... that were all put up on youtube before the patch ever came out... including HEROIC encounters. If you wanted to see the content you had to study those videos, you had to work on your gear for the success of your guild by doing LFR or Flex to maximize your stats, unless you managed to be full heroic from the previous tier, you basically had to go through the content to see the content and to get gear for the content. What is there to keep my interest when I can autoattack my way through LFR, get free loot, and see the epic experience devalued to the point that you can complete it simply by keyboard turning and autoattacking? There has literally been no incentive to keep players playing, to want them to take part in epic battles and to get new trophy loot to show off your kill. Everyone has the loot and you have more in likely been forced to play a watered down version before taking on the real thing and as such probably feel that said epic experience is not epic at all. You can ask any raider that does the real thing and they will tell you that they are nothing alike but the damage will have already been done. You have seen the content and have had it rooted into your mind to the point of no longer being interested in continuing as there is no treasure at the end of the rainbow anymore. Why are the numbers lower with each tier? Because Blizzard has made the game and loot so accessible that it can no longer keep a good chunk of players interested long enough to continue on. I love the game and will continue to get each expansion but I doubt I will ever be able to really get into the game again if Blizzard continues this design choice.
