Knowledge Will Be Taken Away The Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu `alaihi wa sallam) said: “Indeed Allaah will not take knowledge away abruptly by snatching it away from the people. But rather, he will take away the knowledge by taking away the scholars. Then there will remain ignorant people who, when consulted, will give verdicts according to their opinions [in another narration: “without knowledge”]. Thus, they will go astray and will lead others astray.” Reported by Al-Bukhaaree (7307) and Muslim (2673) in their Saheehs. `Abdullaah Ibn Mas`ood (radiyallaahu `anhu) said: “Verily, you are in a time in which there are many scholars and few speakers. And verily, after you there will come a time in which there will be many speakers, while the scholars will be few.” Authenticated by Al-Albaanee (As-Saheehah, 2510; Al-`Ilm li-Abi Khaithamah, 109).
