LAND PROBLEM. Yesterday, gunmen raided Pandanguo village in Lamu County torching houses, school and robbing Kenya Police Reservists of six guns. The attackers estimated to be about 60 also vandalized a dispensary in the area and stole medicine. Local police say no arrest has been made so far. Pandanguo is near Witu that was last month attacked. This was done amidst the presence of KDF,RDU,AP,GSU,Border patrol police and Regular police. One thing has been outstanding from these attacks, the victims are members of the Gikuyu community. Owning large parcels of land at the expense of the local community was by all definitions, a time bomb that was just waiting for the opportune time to explode. As it is , its clear that no amount of security will restore normalcy in Lamu. I am not a tribalist, Im not a beneficiary, neither do I come from the coast, but these Kenyans who by origin, come from Central Kenya might be forced to go back to their ancestral land, just for the sake of their own lives.
