“LASH EXTENSTIONS HAVE WRECKED MY NATURAL LASHES!” Too many - TopicsExpress

“LASH EXTENSTIONS HAVE WRECKED MY NATURAL LASHES!” Too many times I have heard this statement. In fact, I myself refused to jump on board the lash extension craze for a long times because of hearing this from only one person! So I have decided to address this concern for all of you who already have lash extensions, but especially for all you that wanted them, and have been deterred due to these exact statements from family, friends, and colleagues. Individual lash extensions, when applied correctly, are adhered to each individual natural lash. The reason behind this method is that your eyelashes, like the rest of the hair on your body, goes through three phases of growth, shedding the hair, and new growth taking its place. Therefore when the time comes for your natural lash to shed, the extension sheds with it, leaving the rest of the lashes intact. This is why it is important for the Lash Tech to know how to choose an extension that is appropriate for your natural lash, as well as proper technique. When an extension is either too long, too thick, or has too much glue applied, the weight then becomes too much for the natural lash, thus causing it to shed prematurely. The other common problem is if the natural lash is not isolated properly and an extension is adhered to more that one lash. When this happens, one lash may be ready to shed, but because it’s attached to another lash it just hangs there, weighing on the natural lash until it too falls out prematurely. These are the two main reasons why people end up with less density of their natural lashes, or end up with bald spots along the lash line. When done properly, these two things should never happen. Other factors that affect the longevity of the lash extensions are how you care for them. Using proper products such as oil free makeup, makeup removers, lotions, face washes etc., will all play a major role in how well the bond of the glue holds up. Those who pick, play, touch, rub, or even brush their lash extensions excessively are putting stress on the natural lash that normally wouldn’t be there. These habits will most certainly lead to premature shedding as well as breakage of the natural lash. And last but not least…where this dreadful statement really comes from, more often then not, is those who wore the extensions for a period of time and then decided to no longer keep them up. Here’s why: Rather than having them properly removed by a lash tech at the time they would be due for a fill, they let them eventually fall out on their own. Here’s the problem: As the natural lash grows out, the extension and the part of the natural lash that it’s adhered too is no longer near the base of the lash. When you get a regular fill done, the new extensions help support those extensions that have grown out, keeping them from twisting and turning. When you let your extensions become sparser and sparser, the grown out extension becomes heavy on the tips of the natural lash. They end up having nothing beside them to support them so they begin to twist and turn causing stress on the lash. Not only does this cause the natural lash to fall out prematurely or break off, but also they become an annoyance and most people begin to pick and play with them constantly, ultimately damaging the natural lashes. So, whether your thinking of getting them, or debating if you should continue with them, please consider these points: Eyelash extensions… - Should not be applied for a one-time thing unless you plan to have them properly removed within a reasonable time frame. - Should always be filled regularly and within a reasonable time frame. - Are not recommended for those with extreme allergies and eye sensitivities. - Are not recommended for those who touch, rub, pick or play with their natural lashes. - Should always be chosen accordingly to your natural lash. If you have naturally short, soft, or fine lashes the extension should just be a slightly longer thicker version of what you have. So whether your desire is add length, fullness, or both, eyelash extensions can be great way to simplify your morning routines, or just make you feel pretty around the clock. Just remember to take proper care of them and if you decide they are no longer for you and you want to ensure your natural lashes are safe, please book to have them professionally removed.
