LATE ALHAJI IBRAHIM MOHAMMED JARMA Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Jarma was born on 15th April 1947 at Azare in Katagum Emirate of the Royal lineage in Bauchi State. He attended Azare Central Junior Primary School, 1955-1958; Senior Boarding Primary School, 1959-1961; Barewa College, Zaria, 1962-1966; Kaduna Polytechnic, 1971; University College Cardiff, U.K., 1982-1983. He began his working career as an Accounts Clerk with the Katagum Local Government in 1967. He later joined the Police Force in 1969 as an Inspector. By 1971 he was transferred to the Nigerian Prisons Service as an Assistant Superintedent of Prisons and rose to the rank of Superintendent of Prisons, 1979; Chief Superintendent of Prisons, 1982; Assistant Controller of Prisons, 1986; Controller of Prisons, 1989; Assistant Controller General of Prisons, 1993; Controller General of Prisons Service, 1996. An efficient Prisons Administrator who having passed through the grill of Prison Administration, introduced far reaching Prisons Reforms. It is to his credit that the Prisons Reforms he introduced, considerably improved prisoners and staff welfare. He encouraged service fraternization with National and International NGOs for the purpose of training and retraining of both staff and prisoners. He enhanced the image of the service to one of the best discipline services. Assiduously worked for the upgrading of self-accounting in the Nigerian Prisons Service. He is a holder of the Prisons Long Service Award. In further recognition of his dedication and outstanding contribution to the Nigerian Prisons Service, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Jarma , a seasoned Prison Administrator, is conferred with the honour of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR). Added to his contribution to the development of Bauchi state Jarma ensure the enrollment and employment of Bauchi Indigenes into the Nogerian Prison Services. Late Jarma left behind 2 wives and 9 children. May his soul rest in peace.
