LATEST BS FROM OUR CONGRESSMAN, JOHN CULBERSON: Standing on Principle Dear Friend, The House of Representatives is in session and will be voting on a bill later tonight to fund the government and: Delay and defund Obamacare from October 1, 2013 through December 31, 2014. Suspend all Obamacare taxes that have already taken effect for the 2014 tax year (January 1, 2014-December 31, 2014). Suspend all pending Obamacare taxes that would take effect for the 2014 tax year (January 1, 2014-December 31, 2014). Permanently repeal the Obamacare medical device tax. Seventy-nine Senators have already voted to repeal this tax. I encourage you to read the legislation we will be voting on at rules.house.gov/. House conservatives are working hard to protect the American economy from $1.8 trillion in Obamacare spending, to protect over 1 million Americans from losing their health insurance, and to protect 8 out of 10 Medicare beneficiaries from paying higher premiums. This morning, I spoke on the House floor about these conservative efforts: The House has passed bills to fund our military, veterans, and homeland security agencies, and the Senate has been sitting on these funding bills for over 90 days. Because the Senate has not acted on these bills, tonight the House will again vote on a separate bill that would fund the military in the event of a government shutdown. Additionally, Social Security benefits would not be affected by a government shutdown. Once the House sends this government funding bill to the Senate tonight, the Senate has the ability to act quickly. They have been known to deem bills passed before they are even received from the House, and they can avoid a government shutdown at midnight on September 30. I hope that the Senate will do the responsible thing and vote to fund the government, while delaying and defunding Obamacare. Sincerely, John Culberson
