LEGAL HIGHS SEMINAR You are invited attend a breakfast seminar to discuss issues surrounding the sale of psychoactive substances, so called ‘legal highs’. It’s one of the issues of the moment and it brings with it a great deal of emotion and heat. This is an attempt to shed some light on the matter of the community use of intoxicants and to discuss how we can work together to create communities free from drug related harm. You will get the opportunity to hear from people working at the coal face in Christchurch, Nelson, Wellington, Whanganui and Hawke’s Bay (including Ngati Kahungunu Iwi) and learn how they are approaching the issue. Then Mayors from our region will express their views and the challenges they face in implementing the new regulatory framework. We will also have representatives from the Ministry of Health to answer issues that will invariably arise. The intention is to not only record the event but to broadcast it online.
