LET US RISE UP TO THE OCCASION BEING THE TEXT OF SPEECH DELIVERED BY EGAL AMERIJOYE DOT B (.B), THE FORMER SENIOR SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE FORMER GOVERNOR OF EKITI STATE ON POLITICAL AND INTER-PARTY RELATIONS, AT A MEETING OF MINDS HELD AT ILISIN HALL, OKE AYEDUN EKITI ON TUESDAY 18TH OF JUNE 2013 Firstly I wish to express my appreciation for the attendance of men of great minds who deemed it necessary to be here this afternoon, at times it is not the number that could give a meeting of this nature the required value but the quality of minds of the people in attendance who are consciousness alerted to issues that could propel their progress and in unison pursue their happiness. As a matter of fact, the purpose of this meeting is to initiate a process of friendly cooperation among the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) young stakeholders harnessing forces on centripetal perspectives as regards our existence as fellow members of this great Party and to take cognisance of the need for healthy preparation for the future elections as our intrinsic collective survival rest on the possibility of our great Party coming back to power. It is in this spirit that I think we can explore prospect for a sophisticated understanding of the critical issues affecting us. My great businesslike, clear headed and firm young stakeholders of our great Party in Ikole Local Government, it will be wrong an impression for anybody to start assuming we are incapable of putting things right in this great Party of ours or that our gathering could pose any threat. I do not subscribe to this either way, for is it no not better to have men of great minds with enviable agility discussing issues that could be impactful to achieve great success for this Party in the future elections. Beyond the slightest shadow of doubts, I know age is never our barrier and we are eminently qualified for the pioneering role of a new generational stakeholdership not only in Ikole Local Government but Ekiti State as a whole. My people it is the right time to evolve elaborate plans and programmes of effective mobilisation, which the people of our Local Government could pragmatically identified with, to boost the numerical strength of the Peoples Democratic Party reinforcing and supporting our Local Government Party Chairman in a massive mobilisation of a greater number of people to the Party. I think our concerted efforts are required for the success of this Party and we must regard ourselves as crusaders in a new cause to enthrone this Party back to power. At the same time, we meant by example in truthfulness, honesty and fairness to compel our contemporaries within our Local Government and other local government of Ekiti State to join us in the marathon race we wish to ideologically in tuned ourselves to bring back the glory of our Party. Great stakeholders, we need not to be alarmed that this our coming together could be misconstrued in some quarters, especially by the unenlightened minds but it is enough if it is borne in our minds that working for unity, progress and success of our Party is our ultimate goal and we must begin forthwith to take steps which would ensure the speedy attainment of this end. I wish to suggest here that holding meetings with the trio of Hon Wale Aribisala, Rt Hon. Patrick Ajigbolamu and Hon. Akogun Bunmi Ogunleye to fathom a workable approach that can put Ikole Local Government in vantage position to deliver a landslide victory for PDP in the coming elections and this could be done even though being mindful of the fact that we could belong to different political camps either at the State or National but it is a staring fact that we are all member of the same Party so our priority is how does our Local Government stand to benefit from the coming to power of our great Party; the People Democratic Party by special grace of God in the future election that we shall triumph. It would be of great advantage if we prepare our minds that there could be mountainous challenges that may militate against this process of making this Party virile but the greatest problem is our fractious nature that we hardly aggregate ourselves to form a united front working towards plausible goals. If our togetherness is secured I doubt if there could be any inability to tackle any human challenges that we may face in the course of being an effective vehicle for progress in this Party of ours and also be an active players to ensure not only the coming back of the Party to power but our continuous relevance in the scheme of events. My people, in a nutshell, I think all we have to do now; I mean all of us who believe things should be properly done in the Party, working toward possible means of achieving electoral fortunes for our Party our coming together is sine qua non. We need to play our part well, since history exist for those men who confront their time by defying the limitation of their society and doing the right things at the right time even though not convenient, for them posterity has stood in salute of men who came, saw and conquered. Why do not we play our roles? Long live PDP Long live Ikole Local Government Long live Nigeria
