LETTER 3 PRISONERS Shastra says: We are all refugees here in this material existence and it is lust only that keeps us prisoner -- seeking happiness in husband, wife, children, friends and every other material object we can find. Another Sloka says: Ignorance binds the living entities by its tendency to create attachments. Then, Maya inflicts agony upon them. Just as a prisoner is bound by ropes and chains and experiences suffering. Suffer no more, my friend. Abandon everything and surrender your will to the supreme Sri Krsna. He will establish you in your true self and true position. Learn early who you are, Kane. First and foremost, establish your relationship with the cause of all causes. Leave no stone unturned on your path back to the source of love -- Sri Krsna. Renunciation is a most misunderstood word. Everyone says: Ill wait until Im 50 and go to the forest and give it all up. And what do they take with them to the forest? Every swinging impulse and desire theyve always had. Renunciation does not mean that one should abandon life. It means to live life to the fullest, knowing that nothing is yours; it is all His. If you get married, know that your wife belongs to Krsna. If you have children, know that they belong to Krsna and teach them spirituality and morality. If you have a good job making lots of money, know whose it is and act accordingly and offer it unto Him. Krsna says (in Bhagavad-Gita): Acts of sacrifice, penance and charity should not be given up. Indeed, acts of sacrifice, charity and penance should be performed, for they purify even the great souls. If He only gives you the bare necessities then, for sure, count your blessing. Lao Tzu says: Have little, gain much. Learn the truth early, Kane. Then go make your existence a success. In the Bible it says: All that ye eat; all that ye do; do for the glory of God. When you act in this frame of existence Krsna says: Those who are not deluded (the great souls) are under the protection of Divine Nature. Know Krsna, God first, and then you will know yourself. You will take your rightful and inherent position as a part of the whole -- as a loving child of the Divine Couple. Then, and only then, can you truly be happy and able to connect with your natural innate ability: to follow your bliss, for a higher ideal than your own petty, self-indulgent false ego, which is always inflicting agony upon itself. Become honesty; peacefulness; selflessness. Practice self-discipline in your life. Do not let the false ego (the false desires of the mind) control you. Kill your TV. Cancel your newspaper subscription. Stop all the useless chatter. Begin to study Vedic knowledge about who you are and remember your divine birthright: to dance in love of Godhead in every step you take. The protection of divine nature will secure your position in this world and bring you ecstatic joy at every step. It will all begin to unfold before your new transcendental vision. Embrace it, my friend! Fully embrace it! You will no longer be drug around by your ear -- by material nature: Maya. You will become a swan, a divine swan, for God, Sri Krsna. A Paramahamsa swan can pull the milk that is mixed with water without swallowing a trace of water. Always seek the essence of everything, especially your own, Kane. Rise; rise above the masses of sleepwalkers -- the walking dead! Proverbs says: The masses are always wrong. Be the strength of a lion. Become empowered by Krsna. He is the ability in you! Make life a success. Know that everything is dependent on the Source. Everything exists by His will, His love; and nothing, and no one, is independent of the Source. It is by His mercy that we all breathe, walk, talk, love and play. God first! Everything else, second! When you realize this, and your position in it all, you will know internal joy. Everything should be done in the mood of love -- for it is all about the internal mood. All glories, Kane. All glories, Guru Krsna Prasadam. All glories, Hare Krisna. Love, Pop-Pop
