LETTER: A single professional mother of a teenage daughter inboxes me this question: "I am looking desperately for a strong, solid, church to attend and eventually join and be planted. What are your recommended key areas should I use to measure a ministry before joining? MY RESPONSE: 1. Make sure the leadership and the house express the love of God in all the do, even those that leave their ministry. 2. Make sure they are teach the SOUND doctrine of Jesus Christ and holiness. 3. Check to see if the ministry have a heart for souls to be saved and are souls coming in to be saved. 4. Check to see if ministry leaders and members are given to hospitality, fellowship and benevolence. 5. Examine the fruit of the leadership and members and do they live up to that which is described in the word of God. 6. Are the youth bring fed the word of God and allowed to demonstrate. 7. Measure the prayer strength of the ministry and ask yourself, IS IT STRONG as my prayer life or is it weak? Do they care to pray? Do they push a strong culture to pray? If the ministry cannot get half the membership to come to prayer- GET OUT! 8. Are the men passive in their duties and the call to prayer and worship. If yes, GET OUT! 9. Is sin preached against or tolerated? If it is tolerated- GET OUT! 10. Do they have vision expanding and reaching the generations and the communities they serve? If you care to opine, please do so in the comment section.... BLESSINGS!
