LEVAQUIN :: For many its a useful antibiotic. But for those with an allergic reaction, it could mean torn tendons. For my sister, it was worse than that. In September, 1998, at the age of 36, she was in Dekalb Medical Center in the Atlanta suburbs for a heavy bout with asthma. Just before she was to be discharged, she was administered LEVAQUIN. She died on the table, and though the doctors were able to revive her, the effect was as if she had suffered a massive stroke, with all its well known consequences. She lost speech coordination, physical coordination, and suffered memory damage. She is still disabled today. Probably because of her frequent falls, she suffers also from severe back pain. That led to a dependence on pain medications, and over the years, addiction. Last year, she voluntarily went into treatment, and we hoped it was a new beginning. But last week she admitted to relapsing, and we arranged for her to enter a detox and rehab program here in South Florida. Today they called me from the facility to tell me she had been taken to an Emergency Room for respiratory issues. Drove to the hospital early this afternoon and was with her till nearly 5p when a diagnosis of pneumonia and bladder infection came, and she was admitted to a room. Please keep Michel in your thoughts and prayers tonight.
