LIVERPOOL TRANSFER: Liverpool are closing in on a deal to bring Paris Saint-Germain defender Mahamadou Sakho to Anfield. Reds centre-back Sebastian Coates is likely to miss the rest of the season after picking up a knee injury whilst on international duty with Uruguay. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has centre-backs Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger and Kolo Toure to call upon but has admitted he wants to bring in another defender before the transfer window closes on Monday. The Merseyside club have been long- term admirers of Sakho, who will struggle to get playing time at the Parc des Princes with Thiago Silva, Alex and new signing Marquinhos all thought to be ahead of the 23-year- old in the pecking order. Liverpool have now opened talks with the Ligue 1 champions over signing Sakho, SportsDirect News has learned, and the France international is known to be keen on a move to the Premier League. The Reds, however, are likely to face competition from their rivals for Sakho’s signature with Arsenal and Manchester City reportedly also interested in signing the centre-half. #jIpH
