LOLER Site Competent Person Main Responsibilities: Perform the role of nominated Competent Person for the control of lifting on the BP installation. Use technical and practical knowledge to, inspect lifting equipment, answer queries about the suitability of lifting equipment, advise in the development and execution of lift plans and ensure that lifting equipment is only issued to those competent to use it. Ensure that all rigging activities are carried out on site as directed by BP representatives and in compliance with the relevant Company and client standards and procedures. • Manage and control the rigging and rigging loft inventory in line with the regulations and BP procedures • Generate, review and endorse routine, simple and complicated lifting plans • Assist in the development of lifting plans for complex lifts • Maintain the register of persons authorised to perform lifting operations on the installation • Assist in site surveys and provide advice on equipment selection and use • Review and maintain the site’s database of generic and specific lifting plans and risk assessments • Provide technical advice to the BP Site LOLER Representative • Assist the Sparrows CSE and BP Unit Lifting Lead with planning of complex lifts on the installation • Assist as deck crew during crane lifting operations • Carry out lifting duties as required • Undertake other works as directed by BP representatives on duties unrelated to platform lifting, including emergency duties deemed to be within your competence • Act as the PA for all complicated and complex lifting operations as designated by the Site LOLER Representative • Responsible for ensuring that all other persons on the deck and/or rigging crew are trained to the required BP standards and assessed as competent to undertake their specific duties, and that adequate control is exercised over designated laydown areas for loads • Audit specialist contractors’ lifting equipment for compliance with BP standards • Maintain high standards of work ethic and lead by example in your actions and demeanour so that your peers can learn from you • Mentor and support colleagues in delivering the scope of supply for all maintenance and mechanical handling activities attributed to your assets Status: Staff/Perm Required Skills/Experience: The successful candidate will have: • A proactive approach to delivering a best in class service to Sparrows clients • Good communications skills in assuring clients of Sparrows right first time ethos and professionalism • Have completed rigging loft controller training • Have completed WAH equipment management training • Have experience of an offshore rigging supervisory role • Be able to communicate effectively with platform management, attend planning meetings and effectively represent and articulate Sparrows / Clients interests with regard to lifting, rigging issues • Raise permits within ISSOW system once given appropriate training • They should have high personal standards of housekeeping • Potential to become HDA and/or Fire Team Member • Accountable for compliance with key rigging procedures and practices • Accountable for the management of the rigging loft Desired Skills/Experience: • Valid LOLER Competent Person assessment is preferable Required Qualifications: • NVQ L3 in rigging and lifting • OPITO Stage 3 in rigging and lifting Location: North Sea, UNITED KINGDOM Onshore: Offshore: Offshore Certificates Required?: Survival & Medical Advert Published: 18 Jul 2014 Expiry date: 1 Aug 2014 Sparrows Global Services Limited Ref.
