LONG WINDED 5 YEAR PLAN TYPE RHETORIC (ignore away): So I finally found out about a compelling reason to possibly leave St. Louis in a year or two, career-wise. Ive been kind of obsessing over it lately. I love this town, especially the DIY scene, as incestuous, gossip-y, and full of ridiculous dividing lines as it is. I wouldnt be who I am without these shows/bands and everyone whos taken part in it, amazing or awful. Consequently, Im probably going to choke on redundancy if Im here another decade considering Ive only ever left for a bunch of 1-3 week tour stretches. But I dont know if Im going to do it. At some point, I need to meet some more of the interesting bores in the world for myself. Ive been staying in lately to hang out with my dad, dog, and cat while I still can. The Rooster probably only has between two and ten years left in him tops, given how much he smokes on top of the health problems, anxiety, and agoraphobic tendencies. Despite these wonderful DNA-shared traits, Im glad to devote this chunk of time to the only family member I really have, human-wise. Its been a weird combination of rewarding and depressing. But Ive gotta get on with my life once that stupid, expensive degree, that helped me sober up and get out of my South City rut, is finally in my hands come either June or December. Its probably the nature of the holidays/end of a year being an introspective, recap nightmare, But we Eberles havent ever done Thanksgiving or Christmas all that well. These times are for people who arent loners. Im begrudgingly accustomed to it. Im wondering if its time to make lone-wolfing eerily exciting again by starting up in Chicago, NYC, LA, or a few other less cliche choices. Note: This is all tentative and undecided. Im mainly typing this out just so I dont have to repeat it ad nauseum, but still have it not fester into an ulcer or worry tumor. This record will be spinning non-stop in the coming weeks.
