LOOK OUT FOR THE OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS! These fatty acids (EPA, DHA and ALA) play a big role in the visual and neurological development of the baby even before birth. Omega-3 fatty acids along side the other vitamins build the immune system and also prevent cognitive problems including reasoning ability in children. Some of the natural food sources of these oils are; most fish for example tilapia and nile perch, beef, soy beans, nuts, cauliflower, green beans and most green leafy vegetables. Look out for the fortified butter/margarine, milk, yogurt and eggs. For the infants, breast milk is a good source of these fatty acids and that is why breast feeding mothers should eat a well-balanced diet. If using formula, please make sure it has the omega-3 fatty acids listed in the nutrients. For the older children who seem to be picky with food, you could always use seven seas cod liver oil as a temporary solution. Omega-3 fatty acids for a healthy BRAIN and strong IMMUNITY. #teambabystreetug
